FUBOTV reaches agreement with CBS Corporation to add top networks to live streaming TV service

A June 21st, 2016 Press Release by CBS Corporation provides a glimpse into FuboTV’s future aspirations.  Not so surprising is FuboTV has negotiated carriage rights to the CBS Sports slate of entertainment.  This includes all CBS NFL pre-season, regular season and playoff broadcasts carried by CBS.  FuboTV has adeptly positioned itself in the sports streaming vertical market by capturing retransmission rights to the likes of FS1, FS2, Fox Soccer Plus, YES and the Golf channel.  FuboTV already carries live HD Streams of MLB, NBA & NFL games in key local US markets.  What is interesting to note is the rights to carry CBS’ local live streaming of 14 CBS stations in major local US markets.  This gives FuboTV an ever expanding and more diverse channel line-up outside of its core more “sports-centric” channel lineup.  Fubo does carry a few traditional cable news stations already but this shift gets them closer to offering a more diverse “TV a la carte” channel package line-up.  While (like many other Pay TV streaming provider packages), this is not true TV a la Carte where a customer chooses only the channels they want, it does enhance FuboTV’s channel bundle.   This will likely enhance their position to compete with the likes of Amazon, Youtube, DirectTV Now & Hulu.  Not all Pay TV streaming providers have carriage rights to CBS content so this may (in the short term) enhance FuboTV’s ability to woo new customers.  With a recent Series C funding raise of $55 million, FuboTV will no doubt be on the hunt to add to its live streaming channel line-up.  Check out the official CBS Corporation press release here:
