The “TV a la carte” panacea, in search of a “sweet spot”…

A recent LA Times article highlights the challenge faced by Pay-TV providers. The article sites a TiVo survey of 2000 viewers.  More than three quarters of those surveyed noted they would like an “a la carte” channel option. Of those surveyed, most indicated that 18 channels would be the “sweet spot” for a perfect channel line-up.  ABC was the most sought after channel followed by CBS, Discovery Channel, NBC, and History Channel.  The article sites respondents as stating the perfect price-to-package ratio of ~$30 for their favorite 20 channels.  Given the disparity between individual channel packages from ESPN, HBO and others, reaching the viewers pricing panacea is a tall order.  Check out the full story (a great read) at LATimes.com…
